Who is Jenny?

I am a Reiki Master, Certified Hypnotherapist, ordained Interfaith Minister, intuitive counselor, spiritual guide, and ritualist with many years experience in helping people find healing in body, mind, and spirit.

I have been on a healing and spiritual path for most of my life. My spiritual path began in childhood, when I was raised Christian in the Congregational (now United Church of Christ) denomination yet read myths from all over the world. At the University of California at Santa Barbara (UCSB) I studied anthropology with an emphasis on religious studies, acquiring a BA in Cultural Anthropology. My college studies set me on a spiritual quest that embraced a broad range of religious traditions.

In 1971 I took a Mind Dynamics course, a program that focused on the powers of the mind for healing and psychic awareness. It was there I learned my intuitive counseling skills, which continue to empower my healing work. Mind Dynamics took me to Colorado, where I lived for a couple of years in a metaphysical community in the Rockies. I loved it there, but the Universe wouldn’t let me be a hermit and made me come back to the San Francisco Bay Area, my original home. After a brief stint in Seattle, during which time I met my husband, I returned to the Bay Area, where we still reside, got an MBA, and spent several years trying to be happy in the computer industry.

During this time I found a new spiritual path in Earth- and Goddess-based spirituality. I am a teacher and elder in my tradition, and through my work as a leader of my spiritual community I have become well-versed in ritual creation.

As I grew in my new spiritual path the Universe intervened again, this time by making me the primary caregiver for my mother as she fought her battle with cancer. After my mother died I became certified as a Hypnotherapist and set up a private practice, freeing myself from the secular world of the computer industry. I also received my First and Second Level Reiki training during that time.

Heeding the Universe’s call to do more deeply spiritual work I went on a vision quest, and spurred by that experience pursued training and ordination as an Interfaith Minister (see my Links page for Interfaith sites). Accompanying my mother on her journey with cancer drew me to hospice chaplaincy. After my year of clinical pastoral education (CPE) at a local hospital, I moved on to provide spiritual care at the largest and oldest hospice in the Bay Area. While there I became a Reiki Master and taught Reiki to hospice staff as part of the integrative therapies program I helped develop and coordinate at the hospice. Primarily, however, I ministered to patients and families of a variety of faith traditions, combining spiritual counseling, Reiki, and guided imagery in my hospice work.

Between my hospice work, experience as an integrative medicine practitioner, and dealing with my own health issues I have had my eyes opened to the limitations as well as the strengths of Western medicine, learning first-hand the distinction between healing and curing. And then the Universe called me again, and my current healing practice arose out of the cumulation of all the diverse threads of my varied history.

I have no set formula for my healing practice. Each person is unique, and the work I would do with you would therefore be tailored to your specific needs. Through dialog and intuition I can help you discover what is blocking your path to healing, then using the tools that we both agree are appropriate to your distinctive situation I can help you pursue your goal. Because of my integrative medicine background I am also familiar with other modalities besides the ones I use in my practice, including acupuncture, chiropractic, therapeutic massage, cranial sacral therapy, mindfulness or insight meditation (Vipassana), and Western herbalism. I know excellent practitioners in all these modalities, which I can refer you to if we decide they would be helpful to you on your healing journey. My healing practice is based in the home I share with my husband and our two cats in the center of the San Francisco Peninsula, where the labyrinth, spa, and secluded meditation benches in our beautiful back yard are available to you as we work together. Contact me today with any questions you have, or to schedule a free consultation to discuss your situation and discover how I can assist you on your healing journey.
